Water Shadows
Works in porcelain & watercolour
Artists Jo Victoria and Stefan Gevers will open an exhibition at Suki & Hugh Gallery in Bungendore on Saturday, 8 February 2020. Entitled ‘Water Shadows’, the exhibition will show the latest works in porcelain by Victoria (Mossy Point) and watercolour paintings by Gevers (Melbourne).
The artists were paired for an exhibition for two key reasons, says gallery director Susan Foxlee –
‘Jo and Stefan share a love of process. They are experimental and push their respective mediums to the limit. The process is their passion. To this end, their choices are brave which makes their work exciting.’
Inspired by the drama of light and inherent patterns in nature, Gever’s contemporary watercolour paintings also display a lightness of touch. With delicate but deliberate lines directing the compositions there is an element of unexpectedness. These are familiar landscapes, but made new, refreshed.
‘This work is about visualising landscapes and working from memory with Lake George, NSW in mind.Exploring the beauty, challenges and opportunities this area offers.’ – Stefan Gevers
Both artists will travel to Bungendore for the exhibition opening. Victoria from Mossy Point on the South Coast, where she is grateful to still have a studio after being spared by the NSW fires. And Gevers from Melbourne where he lives and works, painting and holding workshops in a busy studio.
The exhibition opens on Saturday 8 February 2020. An opening reception will be held from 3-5pm. All welcome. The exhibition will run until 15 March 2020.
